ব্যবসায়ী নয় শুধু সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যেও টাকা লেনদেনের ক্ষেত্রে যে জিনিসটি আতঙ্ক তৈরী করে, তা হলো- জাল টাকা। অনেক সময় আসল ব্যাংক নোট ও জাল নোটের মধ্যে পার্থক্য করা কঠিন হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। ফলে আইনি ঝামেলা পোহানোসহ হতে হয় আর্থিক ক্ষতির সম্মুখীন।আসল ব্যাংক নোটে বেশ কিছু নিরাপত্তা বৈশিষ্ট্য আছে যা খালি চোখে দেখা যায় না । এগুলো লুকায়িত থাকে। জালনোট খালি চোখে হুবুহু আসল নোটের মত দেখতে হলেও লুকায়িত এসব নিরাপত্তা বৈশিষ্ট্য জালনোটে দেওয়া থাকেনা। আসল নোটে নিরাপত্তা বৈশিষ্ট্য হিসেবে নোটের কাগজে আল্ট্রাভায়োলেট (ইউভি) রঙিন ফ্লুরোসেন্ট বিক্ষিপ্ত অবস্থায় থাকে। এটি খালি চোখে দেখা যায় না। ইউভি লাইটে এটি দেখা যায়। ইউভি লাইট নোটের  উপরে পড়লে বিক্ষিপ্ত ইউভি ফাইবার দেখা যায়। জালনোটে এই ফাইবার দেখা যায় না। ইউভি লাইট মেশিন, ইউভি পেন, এমনকি বাজারে কিছু ইউভি লাইট যুক্ত মোবাইল ফোন এসেছে I যেকোনো একটির সাহায্যে অতি সহজে জাল নোট ধরা যেতে পারে I

 

One of the most widely used security features in currency, globally, are UV-fluorescent phosphors inks or embedded fibres which emit a ‘GLOW’ under a UV light. These inks remain hidden when viewed in normal lighting conditions. UV is the most commonly used counterfeit detection method—it is seen in most of the lower-end devices with the lowest price points. A UV detector verifies the UV marks on authentic notes by shining ultraviolet light onto the bills. These UV marks are created through the use of non-visible dyes that are only visible under UV light. If the UV printed images glow when subjected to the UV light, then the bank note is expected to be authentic.
